• Healthy Chocolate Chip Granola Bars

After a long hiatus from blogging to focus on other things, I am back to snapping pretty photos of my food for you all to drool over…at least that’s my goal. 🙂

I’ve never been much of a granola bar fan, mostly because they contain a lot of sugar. I’m also not much of a snacker, however, I’ve recently started eating small things every few hours. (My snacks mostly consist of fruit, smoothies, veggies, hummus, etc.) This keeps me energized throughout the day, and is much easier on the digestive system. One thing America does well is consistently eat gigantic meals about 3 times a day. This way of eating, in my opinion (and backed up by solid research) is terrible on your body and actually slows down your metabolism. In search of a quick breakfast/snack that’s not full of unnecessary ingredients, I decided to make homemade granola bars. This recipe is super easy and delicious! I enjoy making my own foods, because I have full control over what I am putting into my body. I am a firm believer in the “You are what you eat” mantra, so I try to eat healthy, whole foods when I can. While these bars do contain a good amount of sugar, it’s significantly less than what you would find in any grocery store. Half of the sugar in these is sourced from bananas and honey, both good for you in their natural state.
